Northstar Recovery accepts most major private insurance.

Yes. We are accredited by the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) and The Joint Commission. We are also verified by Psychology Today and LegitScript.

Our staff have degrees and licenses ranging from Master of Social Work (MSW) to Licenced Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSW), Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), and Licenced Mental Health Counselors (LMHC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC).

In addition to their credentials, Northstar clinicians have varying professional interests and have sought additional trainings in specialties such as: EMDR, Jungian Psychology, Adlerian Psychology, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Existentialism, and many more.

We sometimes will offer scholarships to people who are extremely motivated but lack the insurance or resources.

You can’t make someone get help who isn’t ready. This is one of the hardest parts of having a loved one with a substance use disorder. Northstar is here to speak with your loved one to meet them where they are at, understand their situation, and support you as we advocate for their recovery. These ongoing communications can take place over weeks or even months.

We always prefer our clients to attend the program in person, if possible. We’ll work with each individual to ensure they are best positioned for recovery success, including arranging transportation to and from the facility.

Clinical FAQs

We offer a variety of evidence-based modalities, including CBT, DBT, Psychoeducation components, ACT, EMDR, and TF-CBT.

Clients attend group therapy anywhere from 3-6 times weekly and individual therapy once per week.

We offer weekly alumni meetings as well as assisting clients with coordinating care prior to the time they are discharged. No client should leave Northstar without a connection with community providers and resources.

The typical average length of stay is 66 days - that being said, clients can expect their care to be uniquely tailored to their needs so the specific length of stay will be appropriately configured for their course of care.

Families have the unique opportunity to participate with other families, independent from their loved ones receiving treatment. Families are also encouraged to engage in family therapy with (or without) their loved one present. At Northstar we believe that this is a family disease and by engaging families, clients will be more equipped to obtain lasting recovery.
