Oftentimes that means coordinating a detox bed with one of the many Massachusetts rehab facilities that we have relationships with. And, unlike some other facilities, we’ll always make sure you get the best addiction treatment that your insurance is able to cover—even if that’s not with us.

How We Treat Addiction

Northstar Recovery Center offers three levels of care for outpatient addiction and dual diagnosis treatment, geared to meet you where you are for optimal success. We give you the tools, therapies, and ongoing support network for you to face the world—sober—and with improved mental health.

Day Treatment (PHP*)

Our highest level of outpatient care, Day Treatment—referred to as Partial Hospitalization Program or PHP by commercial insurance carriers—offers intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home in the evening. This is the next step after detox and residential treatment, where you can begin to address the root causes of your addiction.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

A step down from Day Treatment, our IOP or partial-day treatment offers even more flexibility for those balancing work, school, or family responsibilities. Rather than a full day of treatment, intensive outpatient treatment requires just three hours per day, with options ranging from three to six days per week.

Outpatient Program (OP)

At this stage, you will meet with your clinician at prescheduled intervals for ongoing support, and get immersed in our alumni support network to continue your recovery beyond our four walls.

We treat opioid addiction—including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription painkillers—using evidence-based therapies and medication-assisted treatment to support long-term recovery.

Stimulants

Whether it’s cocaine, methamphetamine, or prescription stimulants like Adderall, we help individuals regain control and rebuild stability through structured, supportive care.

Cannabinoids

For those struggling with heavy or dependent marijuana or THC use, we offer non-judgmental support to address underlying emotional or behavioral concerns.

Depressants

Benzodiazepine and barbiturate misuse, including drugs like Xanax and Klonopin, requires careful, medically-informed care to safely reduce use and restore balance.
