Drug Rehab in Ludlow

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) in Massachusetts is the next step down from day treatment. IOP provides flexible care, with sessions meeting for three hours per treatment day. This makes IOP an ideal solution for people who are balancing responsibilities like work with drug rehab. Multiple IOP schedules are available at Northstar:

• Mornings: 9:00 AM to noon.
• Afternoons: 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
• Evenings: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Southborough or 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM in West Springfield.

While many enter IOP following day treatment to ease the transition from more intensive care back to typical daily life, others start their treatment journey at Northstar with IOP. During the admissions process, we can help you choose the right starting level of care for you.

Learning to take care of your whole-person health, mental and physical, is crucial in addiction recovery. Many people with substance use disorders have one or more co-occurring mental health concerns. For example, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, grief, or bipolar disorder. If left unaddressed, these can be harder to cope with and may affect urges to use substances. Northstar provides in-person and online dual-diagnosis treatment, which addresses addiction and mental health simultaneously to support positive recovery outcomes, such as improved quality of life and psychiatric functioning.

In addition to our in-person programs, Northstar Recovery Center is proud to offer virtual addiction treatment in Massachusetts. While we have an in-person location near Ludlow, some clients in the area prefer online treatment. You can choose from our fully virtual partial hospitalization program, our fully virtual IOP, or a hybrid schedule that combines in-person and online therapy sessions. Virtual sessions meet over a secure online platform. 

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is an approach to substance use disorder treatment that combines medication with therapy and peer support. Possible benefits of MAT include improved treatment retention, reduced withdrawal symptoms, and an increased chance of lasting abstinence. Some people need MAT on a short-term basis. Others find that ongoing MAT supports their long-term recovery. Consistent with our personalized approach to care, Northstar has a psychiatric nurse practitioner on-site who can prescribe and manage medication for those who find that MAT is a good fit for them. 

Some people will be able to detox from drugs and alcohol on an outpatient basis. Others will require a short stay in inpatient medical detox before entering our programs.
