The day treatment programs in Massachusetts at Northstar Recovery Center are comparable to a typical partial hospitalization program (PHP) or highly intensive outpatient program (HIOP). Day treatment is highly structured: clients start the day at 9:00 AM and participate in treatment activities until 3:30 PM Monday through Friday and until 2:00 PM on Saturdays. You’ll engage in group therapy, peer support groups, once-weekly individual therapy sessions, and other activities (e.g., family therapy sessions, which are encouraged when possible).
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP), covered by Beacon, is the next step below day treatment, but the same effective approach is used. Clients in IOP at Northstar participate in therapy sessions for a total of three hours per day, with multiple treatment schedules available to accommodate your needs. These include mornings (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM), afternoons (12:30 PM to 3:30 PM), and evenings (6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Southborough or 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM in West Springfield).
As a dual-diagnosis treatment center in Massachusetts, we address co-occurring mental health concerns alongside substance use disorders to help clients achieve the best possible outcomes. Dual-diagnosis treatment is covered by insurance, and it is strongly recommended for people living with addiction and one or more additional mental health conditions. Our mental health specialists work with depression, anxiety, grief, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other concerns.
In addition to our in-person recovery programs, we provide virtual addiction treatment in Massachusetts covered by Beacon insurance. Northstar Recovery has fully virtual programs, including virtual PHP and virtual IOP. We also offer hybrid treatment for clients who prefer to take part in a combination of in-person and online therapy sessions.
