Massachusetts Addiction Treatment Covered by UMR
We provide comprehensive Massachusetts addiction treatment covered by UMR and other types of health insurance. With virtual, hybrid, and in-person scheduling available, we’re here to help individuals and families get the help they need.
Our day treatment program in Massachusetts provides intensive therapy for addiction during the day while allowing clients to sleep and live at home (or nearby in sober housing). Also known as a partial hospitalization program, or PHP, day treatment is a highly structured and immersive form of outpatient care. You will attend therapy sessions at our center from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This program combines evidence-based therapies that work in conjunction with one another to achieve optimal treatment outcomes.
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Northstar Recovery Center meets for three-hour windows on each treatment day. Also called partial day treatment, IOP has a significantly lower time commitment than PHP, which can be ideal for those needing to balance other daily life responsibilities with therapy. However, the same effective treatment approaches are used. You may step down to IOP after finishing day treatment to ease the transition back into typical daily life, but some clients start their journey with this level of care.
Many people with a substance use disorder will have one or more additional mental health conditions. Dual diagnosis treatment, also called integrated treatment, is strongly recommended for people facing addiction and one or more co-occurring disorders. Alongside early intervention, dual-diagnosis treatment can improve quality of life and increase the likelihood of recovery from or successful management of both disorders. Our centers offer dual diagnosis treatment, covered by UMR and other insurances, at all levels of care.
The evening IOP at Northstar Recovery meets from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Southborough and from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM in West Springfield. Our evening IOP is an excellent solution for clients who must fulfill commitments during the day. For example, work, taking care of your family, or college classes, which may otherwise interfere with your ability to participate in treatment.
Getting virtual treatment through Northstar Recovery Center means you can receive the same high-quality care we provide in person from the comfort of your own home. Rather than participate in therapy in person, our virtual addiction treatment program meets over secure, remote sessions. This type of program can be ideal for individuals who have busy schedules, do not live near one of our locations, or prefer online therapy for any other reason.
We acknowledge that some clients will need drug and alcohol detox prior to entering one of our outpatient programs. If that is the case for you or your loved one, the Northstar Recovery Center team will provide a referral to a local drug detox center we trust. You will be treated for withdrawal symptoms until you reach physical stability, which usually takes around 3-10 days. Then, we’ll help you make a smooth transition into therapy at our center.
