We understand how struggling with addiction can be an isolating and exhausting experience. Whether you’re dealing with alcohol, prescription medications, or other substances, it’s common to feel stuck and unsure of how to move forward. Substance use often goes hand in hand with mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, or trauma, making recovery feel even more complicated. We understand how these struggles can affect every part of your life and we meet you where you are to help you start crafting the life that you want to live. Our expert team offers compassionate, judgment-free support to help you take that first step toward sustainable, lasting change. This is what to expect at Northstar Recovery Center.

Taking the First Step: Our Admissions Process
Starting treatment at Northstar Recovery Center begins with a simple, supportive conversation. Whether you’re being referred from an inpatient facility, calling our admissions line at 888-339-5756, or using the chat feature on our website, our admissions team is here to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. Every member of our team understands how overwhelming it can feel to take this step, and we approach each inquiry with compassion, patience, and respect.
Before beginning treatment, all new clients complete a pre-admission call to help us understand your needs and ensure our program is the right fit for you. As part of this process, we’ll verify your insurance coverage and explain your benefits so you know what to expect. Once that’s in place, you’ll schedule your initial intake appointment with one of our clinical team members, who will work with you to learn more about your story and to plan the details of your debut into our program.
We know that recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why we prioritize a smooth transition into our care. Our team works closely with referring providers to ensure robust continuity of care, so you feel supported from the moment you reach out through every step of your journey. The idea of seeking help can be downright scary, so you can expect us to celebrate you for recognizing your struggles and for making the decision to get the help you need.
Your First Day of Treatment
Your first day at Northstar Recovery Center is all about making you feel welcome, supported, and at ease. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll be greeted by staff who truly care and are ready to help you feel comfortable. We understand that starting treatment can come with a mix of emotions, so we work hard to create an environment where you feel safe and accepted right away.
No matter what your story is or what you’ve been through, you belong here. At Northstar, we believe that recovery begins with connection. You’ll be welcomed into a community of individuals who are all here for the same reason: to heal, grow, and move forward. We actively encourage clients to form connections and support each other, helping to break the deep sense of isolation that often comes with addiction.
During your first day, you’ll join engaging, professionally-led group sessions designed to meet you where you are emotionally and mentally. These groups are interactive, meaningful, and focused on real-life tools for recovery. Your first day at Northstar is an invitation to expand your toolkit and begin weaving the tapestry of your ideal life.
Your Goals, Your Program
Each day at Northstar Recovery Center is thoughtfully designed to provide structure, connection, and support whether you’re just beginning your recovery journey or preparing to transition back into daily life. Our programs meet you where you are, offering different levels of care to match your individual needs.
For those in need of full-time support, our Day Treatment Program (PHP) offers a highly structured treatment experience. PHP can run up to six days a week, including Saturdays, and provides a full day of therapeutic programming, peer connection, and clinical support. This level of care is ideal for individuals who are stepping down from inpatient treatment or who need more intensive guidance as they stabilize in early recovery.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers a more flexible schedule with fewer treatment hours per week, making it a great fit for those returning to work, school, or family responsibilities. IOP includes both daytime and evening options, so clients can continue their recovery work without having to put the rest of their lives on hold.
We also recognize that getting to the facility isn’t always possible. That’s why we offer telehealth options, allowing clients to attend sessions virtually when transportation or other barriers arise. Whether you’re in the building or joining from home, you’ll still receive the same high-quality care and support.
At Northstar, every day is a chance to keep your momentum! You’ll be guided by compassionate professionals, surrounded by a community that understands, and grounded in a commitment to long-term recovery.
The Northstar Community
Recovery doesn’t end when treatment does, and it doesn’t happen alone. At Northstar Recovery Center, we’re proud to foster a strong, supportive community that extends far beyond day treatment. We believe that connection is a key part of long-term recovery, which is why we offer ongoing opportunities for both clients and their families to stay involved and supported.
Our alumni groups are a big part of what makes Northstar unique. Held once a week during evening programming at our facility, these meetings bring together former and current clients in a shared space of encouragement and celebration. Alumni return to share their experiences, reflect on their progress, and offer hope to those just beginning their journey. For current clients, it’s a powerful reminder that recovery is possible and sustainable. For alumni, it’s a chance to stay grounded in their growth while giving back to the community that helped them.
Our family support groups are open and free to all family members of current or former clients. These sessions are designed to help loved ones understand the challenges of early recovery and learn how to offer meaningful support. Just as our clients benefit from peer connection, families also find strength in coming together, sharing their experiences, and building a network of understanding and support.
At Northstar, we believe healing happens on multiple levels. We are here to support every part of that journey, for both our clients and their loved ones.
